Police have received reports of a group of individuals approaching members of the public in the Devizes area using forceful and intimidating behaviour to try and pressure them into buying generators.

Pressurising behaviour includes placing a generator into a member of the public’s boot while they are loading their shopping. Please look out for vulnerable or elderly people in our community if you believe they are being approach or intimidated by this group.

The individuals have been spotted in Devizes at locations including Morrisons supermarket carpark and London Road petrol station but they are believed to have headed out of town towards Amesbury.

The group are believed to speak in Irish accents and be in several vans.

If you are approached by this group, do not purchase anything from them as we do not know the origin of the generators, politely decline and inform them you will be contacting police on 101. Trading standards have also been informed.

When calling 101 please quote log 0107 of today with any information such as locations, descriptions or number plates.
