The Community Policing Team (East) are investigating a series of car crimes which have occurred in the area recently.

Since November 2016 to date there have been 28 reports from the Amesbury, Shrewton, Bulford, Winterbourne Gunner areas. 10 further incidents were reported in the Tidworth, Ludgershall and Netheravon areas in the same period.

In all incidents cars were broken into and items stolen from within. The majority of offences occurred during the night time however a number were vehicles targeted in local ‘beauty spots’ popular with walkers during the day time.

In many of these incidents valuables had been left on view in the vehicles or coats/jumpers left on seats which are seen as invites to thieves.

The CPT will be posting information through the week starting today, Monday 23 January 2017, on the Amesbury and Tidworth Police facebook pages.

Most recently, on Friday 13 January 2017 at 9:30 am a window of a Blue Honda parked in Newton Toney was smashed and the victims handbag stolen.

The suspects are described as two white men, aged in their 20’s, one was wearing a black beanie hat and a dark jacket. They were seen in the area driving a Green Ford Focus at the time of the incident.

Just after midday that same day a similar incident occurred at the Polo fields situated in Perham Down. The offender(s) smashed a window of a Renault Clio and took a wallet and a white/gold iphone 6.

PC Lyndsey Smith is investigating both these offences.

PC Richard Chula is appealing for information on an incident which occurred in Wylye. At around 6:30 pm on 21 December 2016 two people attempted to break into a Honda Accord which was parked off of Dinton Road but were disturbed by a resident and ran off towards the village.

The suspects are described as wearing dark coloured clothing and carrying what was believed to be a cutting tool.

PC’s Smith and Chula are asking that anyone who saw suspicious activity or who has information to help identify the offenders comes forward.

Anyone who has information on any of these incidents is asked to contact the relevant officers at Amesbury Police Station on 101. Information can also be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
