My family, the Ayres, lived in Everleigh for 250 years. Two brothers William & Joseph, came in about 1712, I believe from Ramsbury, as farm boys, after the death of their father Edward. They married Martha Bridg & Sarah Keel, both in 1722. My grandfather Frank and elder sister Ada, were born at Beach’s Barn, but the family then moved to 16 Lower Everleigh. Two of his brothers died in WW1. Oliver is buried at St. Peters, but Albert died at Gallipoli and has no known grave. Grandfather left to join the Coldstream Guards and never returned to live here. Some of the family now live in Upavon.

Excellent website. Well Done Everleigh. May I just say that I am not an everleigh resident but an associate of James Earl Jnr. who speaks exceptionally highly of the village.

Long live King James.:):)
