Please be mindful and respectful that not everyone in our community will be taking part. To help prevent rats, mice, squirrels and any other unwanted visitors letting themselves in, here are our top tips: Ensure any holes or gaps in the outside of buildings are filled inMake sure rubbish is stored in bins with the lid shut downPlace any compost bins on patio slabs or small wire meshEnsure bird feeders are removed at night and ideally use a pole to hang feeders in an open space away from overhanging trees or shrubs and clear up spilt food regularly If you hear noises or suspect you have unwanted guests don’t ignore it, email pestcontrol@wiltshire.gov.uk or give us a call on 0300 456 0107. More on the pest control support we offer ![]() Be wary of cold callers and scammers Please be wary of cold callers and scammers that are looking to take advantage of the current cost of living challenges. Our advice is to not engage with any businesses which cold call you either at the door or by telephone. Some businesses operate in a less than ethical fashion, using ‘hard sell’ tactics to get a sale, and these traders usually target more vulnerable members of the community. Examples of previous scams in Wiltshire include companies selling alarm systems, solar panels, roof repairs, loft insulation and gardening services. Legitimate businesses would not put a resident under pressure to buy a product or service quickly. Search for local planning applications now ![]() From Tuesday 1 November, the opening hours of all 10 of our HRCs will change from 10am to 4pm on each day that they’re open. Currently they’re open from 9am. As per previous years, Salisbury, Trowbridge and Stanton St Quinton HRCs will be closed for an additional day a week, so will not be operating on Thursdays and Fridays. The opening days of the other centres will remain as they are. All of these temporary changes will take effect from 1 November and last until 31 March.
