On Sunday morning,16th July, we intend to walk the parish boundary to commemorate the ancient ceremony of Beating the Bounds of Everleigh Parish.
The plan is to assemble at 9am at the Everleigh Playground in the vicinity of the park bench by the southern pedestrian gate and then conduct a leisurely 8 mile+ hike around most of our scenic parish boundary, to finish at about 1pm. There is also the option of completing a shorter, 6 miles version.
The pace will be leisurely and will explore the beautiful countryside from the Dropping Zone, to Everleigh Ashes, through Lower Everleigh and back to the Everleigh Playground. A safety vehicle will accompany walkers throughout.
Equipment (advisory):
• Footwear – walking boots or stout shoes
• Clothing – weather dependent; T-shirts and light anorak-style coat advised
• Small rucksack or back-pack.
• Water or soft drink – one litre minimum advised.
This is an enjoyable way to promote both community spirit and fitness – we hope to see you there.
