Marmalade Trust – Connections project offered in Wiltshire

Marmalade Trust exists to raise awareness of loneliness and support people to make beneficial connections in their locality.

We are currently open for referrals to our Marmalade Connections project.

Marmalade Connections offers an extended period of 1-2-1 telephone support for up to 15 weeks.  The project uses an enabling/empowering social prescribing model and is delivered by trained volunteers.

Volunteers make a weekly call to project members, focusing on their specific needs and interests.  These conversations lead to volunteers researching, and then signposting, local social activities and community support.  During the course of this project, volunteers aim to develop supported engagement, at a pace that enables each project member to improve their social connections and self confidence.

This is a telephone signposting and confidence building weekly phone call and is not not an ongoing befriending service.

It is for those experiencing significant loneliness and wanting to make new social connections but not sure what is around for them, or lacking in confidence.

Last year we received many referrals from GP’s and other health & social care practitioners, as well as through churches, community groups, foodbanks and housing support workers.

You can find out more information about the project, eligibility criteria and make a referral  here. Would be great to have a call with someone in the team to explore how we can support each other.  Flyers attached for printing and display.

Information about becoming a Connections volunteer is here

If you are interested in getting the conversation going, look into our Loneliness Awareness Week 9 – 15 June, and get involved somehow!
