Over the past week we have been called to numerous reports of hare coursing / poaching on rural land surrounding Avebury, Yatesbury, Pewsey Vale and Upavon area to name but a few. Not only do these criminals partaking in this activity actively chase hares with dogs, which is illegal under the Hunting Act 2004; they also cause criminal damage to crops and fencing along the way.

We urge local residents in rural communities to be vigilant to vehicles (usually 4×4 type vehicles) acting suspiciously and to report any such activity to us on 101 or 999 if persons are seen to be in the act.
