Preparing for flooding: a useful guide for residents

Understanding flood risk and knowing where to find help can make it easier to prepare and respond.

The Everleigh Parish Clerk has shared a leaflet, Building resilience to the impact of flooding, written by Paul Cobbing and dated July 2026. It brings together information and links on checking flood risk, receiving warnings, preparing a household flood plan, insurance and measures to reduce damage to homes.

The guide also looks at drainage and ways neighbours and communities can work together, with examples from Wiltshire and the surrounding area.

Residents may find it a useful starting point for exploring their own circumstances and finding further support. The leaflet is intended as general information and signposting; property-specific measures should be discussed with suitably qualified professionals.
