The use of unmanned air vehicles (UAV) by UK Armed Forces is rapidly growing following their proven success in recent conflicts. As a result, the Ministry of Defence is enhancing its current capability by procuring a ‘new generation’ of UAV.
The Ministry of Defence has already presented the majority of this airspace change proposal for public consultation during the summer of 2008 with the feedback from that consultation being published in March 2009. This feedback coupled with changes in Service requirements will require the establishment of additional segregated airspace within the Boscombe Down Aerodrome Traffic Zone (ATZ). This proposal has, therefore, been amended to include this new airspace requirement.
