Beware of out of date maps! Ordnance survey maps are updated periodically to incorporate changes and can soon be out of date. A large number of rights of way on Larkhill Ranges have been re-aligned and a further 3 in West Lavington, Figheldean and South Tidworth have been diverted. Following the legally required consultation, orders have been made and on or about the 20th of March the Definitive Map on the Wiltshire Council website will be amended. A plan of the new rights of way alignments on Larkhill Ranges can be found at the link above.

Flooding. DIO staff have been working with Wiltshire Council and contractors to help reduce the effects of recent and future flooding around the Plain and continue to respond positively to all requests from the Council. It is a relief for us all to see water levels falling.

Retirement of Lt Col (Retd) Nigel Linge. I retire in early April and my post will be gapped for a while. Thank you for a very enjoyable four years in post. If you have any access queries or other issues where you normally dealt with me, please use the Complaints Line to leave a message ((01980) 620819) and the appropriate person will call you back.

Activity on the Plain will be significantly reduced in April.

7 – 10 April. The Royal School of Artillery final live fire exercise CROSSED CANNONS involving four courses using 105mm light guns, 155mm AS90 (Artillery System of the 90s) self- propelled guns and Multi Launch Rocket Systems will exercise mainly in Larkhill Range.

The rest of April will see low level training and preparation for the Afghanistan pre-deployment exercise for 20 Armoured Brigade (based in Germany). This Mission Specific Training will run from 3 to 11 May 2014 and involve 1800 troops and 200 vehicles.
