The permissive byway from Joan a Gore Cross to New Zealand Farm Camp will be closed to vehicles while works are carried out on crossing Delta West (by the burnt out barn). Work is likely from 13 Feb to about 5 Mar. Walkers and riders will be able to walk around the works.

The permissive byway north of Enford between Crossing Alpha (A345) and Alpha 1 (C32) will be closed for resurfacing from 10 Feb to about 3 Mar.


February will be busy on the Plain:
1 – 16 Feb. 3rd Battalion the Parachute Regiment in Copehill Down Village for urban operations training and 4th Battalion the Rifles on low level training on SPTA East.
3 – 7 Feb. Major armoured manoeuvre and artillery live firing exercises across the whole Plain will involve the Land Warfare Centre Armoured Infantry course on Exercise RARDENS REVENGE and three Royal School of Artillery courses firing 155mm AS90 and 105mm Light Gun on Larkhill Ranges.
10 – 14 Feb. Land Warfare Centre armoured and armoured infantry course final exercise TEAM SPIRIT and Brigade Reconnaissance exercise BADGERS STRESS will use the West and Centre of the Plain.
24 – 28 Feb. 2nd Battalion the Welsh Regiment will exercise two armoured infantry companies in Warrior combat vehicles on SPTA Centre and East with a squadron of Challenger 2 tanks from 2nd Royal Tank Regiment. At the same time 30 Commando IX Group, with BV 206 over snow vehicles, will train on SPTA West.

Access to SPTA is regulated by Salisbury Plain Military Lands, Bulford, Larkhill and Imber
Range Byelaws. Always comply with local signs and flags. Rights of way in Range Danger
Areas are closed when red flags are flying.

Larkhill Ranges. No firing is planned for: 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16 Feb
Bulford Ranges. No firing is planned for: 1, 2, 15, 16, 22, 23 Feb
Winter Firing Times: Winter firing times from 01 Nov 13 are:
Mon, Wed & Fri: 0830 – 1700, Tues, Thurs & Sat: 0830 – 2100 Sun: 0830 – 1300.
Wed 19 Feb late night firing has been moved from Tue 18 Feb to support Mortar Division Ex Final Storm.
Imber Ranges. The public are excluded except when the roads are specifically opened.

1. Even when roads are open the village and buildings remain out of bounds to the public.
2. Dates may change if operational training needs dictate.
