January 2015 Newsletter
The new Training Year will start on a very quiet note for the first 3 weeks with an Armoured Infantry Company from 1st Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment training in Warrior Armoured Fighting Vehicles in the 1st week and an Armoured Engineer Squadron from 26 Engineer Regiment conducting build up training for Canada during the middle two weeks.
During the final week of January the Regimental Headquarters and 2 Armoured Infantry Companies from 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, together with an Armoured Infantry Company from 1st Battalion the Mercians and a Challenger 2 Squadron from the Kings Royal Hussars will exercise across the whole length of the Plain.
In addition elements of the lead Commando Battle Group will conduct low level training in Viking over-snow vehicles.
Movement of track vehicles will be particularly evident at tank crossings on the main routes transiting Salisbury Plain and drivers are advised to approach these crossings
with caution and be prepared for mud clearance operations.
