Vacancy for Parish Clerk

Everleigh Parish Council is an active Council that seeks a highly motivated, enthusiastic person to take on the combined post of Clerk to the Council and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO).

The post is part time, 8.5 hours per month. Working mainly from home, the hours of work are flexible except for travel to and attendance at meetings.

The starting salary for this post will be on the NALC (National Association of Local Councils) pay scale SCP14 (£15.31) rising to SCP16 (£15.80) dependent upon qualifications and experience. In addition a further 12.07% is paid to reflect the holiday hours for irregular work patterns and a working from home allowance of 17%.

The Clerk must be IT literate and must be able to store a small amount of Council files securely at their home address. The Clerk must also be available to attend Council meetings in the evening, normally on the Tuesday of every other month at 7:00pm.

Duties will include acting as the Proper Officer to the Council, compiling the agenda, minute taking, compilation of correspondence, filing and the maintenance of simple financial and payroll accounts.

Prior relevant experience would be an advantage, but training in all aspects of local government administration, leading to CiLCA qualification, can be provided.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 15th September 2026.
Interviews are planned to be held during the week Monday 21st September– Friday 25th September 2026.

The starting date is planned to be Monday 12th October 2026 in order to allow for briefing and handover from the current Parish Clerk, prior to assuming the role on Wednesday 28th October 2026 following a Parish Council meeting the previous evening.
